How do I keep my eyes from burning when swimming underwater?
See, I am making a mermaid tail for me to use in the water, and I am going to make a video of me swimming using the the tail. But the problem is mermaids wouldn’t swim with their eyes closed, or wear goggles. Is there at least a way to make my eyes not get all red and itchy after swimming?
The chlorine in the pool is causing your eyes to turn red – mermaids in the ocean don’t have to deal with chlorine – us land-lubbing mermaids do. Get swim goggles – they make them real small now. There is a bar in Vegas where they have mermaids swimming around and they are wearing goggles – so it’s ok for a mermaid to wear goggles – maybe it’s like glasses for those of us on land.
a lot of times your eyes get used to it. when i was younger and never wore goggles my eyes never stung. now that i wear goggles everytime i swim, when i swim without them my eyes will be red for days after. if you dont want googles maybe go to a freshwater lake? the water won’t sting your eyes there.
Besides using goggles, although it sounds gross, put milk in your eyes. At water polo tournaments we would spend hours on end in the water with our eyes open, so during the breaks we would fill our goggles with milk in put them on (leaving our eyes open) and it feels much better.
I hope that helps.
You can actually buy some drops to put in your eyes before you go swimming at a store like shoppers drug mart, they help with them being red and itchy
have fun being a mermaid : )
