I am trying to lose a little and I was wondering what do you get out of walking or jogging with weights. Why do people do it?

they are misinformed. it creates a greater muscle imbalance between the quadriceps and hamstrings. only the quads benefit when the upper leg is lifted, the hamstrings receive no benefits. the load is also placed in an unnatural position, not a good idea at all.

You build more arm muscle. People want to get more out of their runningworkouts by working their abs, legs, and arms at the same time. You should try it. I play tennis every day on week days for 3 hours. Then I get home and have lunch. I rest and run on the treadmill for 30-45 minutes with 5 lbs weights in each hand. I have pretty good biceps now and I’m still working out.

I used wrist weights when I jogged so this way when I did run for a meet I would be faster-but I really think they are a waste of time (in my opinion). They may be good for arm toning while running…But I prefer to do my weight training seperate. Of course, that’s just me!

you get muscles at your feet and hands at the same time. if you get ankle weights, you will burn more calories than usual!
