(Gay guys) Do you feel intimidated by the men from the Men’s Health Magazine?

We did a school comprehension a few months ago and it said that many straight guys were unhappy because it made it seem like, to be a good guy, you had to be ripped like those men, but apparently lots of gay men became VERY conscious of themselves and of the models and were more distraught when they were asked their views.
I have to admit – it doesn’t make me feel the greatest. Of course I feel intimidated.
What effect does it have on you?
Oh yeah, i know exactly where ur coming from. The dudes on the magazines are jacked but so FAKE. In order to have a body like that u have to be either very patient or a so full of yourself. U don’t need to be hot by getting jacked.
No. I go to the gym every morning. I am those men. Minus the bad orange tan.
Please remember that everyone is unique and the beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Many of those men are airbrushed and get their shots taken from a professional who know all the right angles etc. Society has become very shallow and driven on looks. Most magazines (especially men’s health) Show a stereotypical straight muscular male. Male’s come in all shapes and sizes and I think being too muscular is very unattractive. Although having a nice appearance and caring how you look is a good thing, going overboard is counter productive.
Do not compare yourself to other men, you are unique and have great attractive qualities of your own for sure.

I don’t feel intimidated, anyone could look like that after the amount of steroids they’ve taken! I don’t find them that attractive ever, because I don’t go for ultra muscular guys anyway.
Yes it does intimidate me. I feel like that’s what I should look like.
No i dont’t feel intimidated by those guys at all and i don’t think there realistic. Heck, in real life i don;t think they look like that. I want to see a magazine that includes all people of all shapes and sizes because we as a society are like that, not extremly buff and built with with over payed photographers following us.
Initially, I’m too focused on how good looking the guy is to worry about not being an adonis myself. After my initial reaction, I realize how unrealistic such bodies are.
To have a body like that, you have to be totally dedicated to it through obsession or profession. I’ve got more important things to do, and so do most other people.
A good looking body is a plus, but there’s a lot more to be said for personality. I’ve met plenty of “average” looking guys who were hot because of how they acted.
Personally I find that most have a very generic look, and to me that’s not attractive.
Society is idealizing men, the way women have been all along.
Thinner, more cut, more defined. More ‘perfect’ to that model archetype that few people are.
It’s sad, but I’ve bought into alot of that, I try not to be concerned with such things but… I can’t help but look in the mirror and see what’s ‘not there’ like the magz.
