  1. Freedle S says:

Whatever you are happiest with should be your choice. Some people are one or two issue voters. If they are happy with that, more power to them. Your vote is your vote. Use it as you will.

If the other issues from one of the other parties, added together, are more important than your view on abbortion, maybe you should vote that way.

It doesn’t matter who you vote for in that issue. No one is going to do anything about it.

Vote on issues like the economy, war, etc. Those are the things that the president is going to focus on.

find a democrat who is pro life. they are out there.

One candidate supporting all your issues in a problem. If one is so important that you’re willing to sacrifice the rest, then that what you have to do.

  6. regerugged says:

You can vote for anyone you wish, for any reason you wish. I agree that abortion is wrong. I think it is murder. I would never vote for a candidate who favors abortion.
In the US, we have the rights to “…live, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.” Our most valuable right is to life itself.

  7. ? says:

That one alone would do it for me. There are really only two people running in this election, and one of them will be president. It is your decision to make as to who has the values closest to your own. Just because your not a republican doesn’t mean you can’t buck the system. Joe Liberman is a good example.

  8. If you want CHANGE cash a dollar says:

If voting against abortion is more important to you than other issues, then I would say yes. But if the other issues compounded mean more to you than the abortion issue, then no. Unfortunately for those in your position right now, that is the way it goes.

  9. MikeSnake says:

God I hope not. What a horrible issue to base your vote on. Abortion is a moral issue and it is ultimately between the individual and the big man upstairs. If you hate abortion, don’t have one. I love abortion, so stop trying to keep me from having one, OK!? Thank you.

  10. Jeff J says:

A candidate’s views on abortion shows you their character and their moral integrity (or lack of). Plus, they will appoint supreme court justices which will represent their views, and that will make a difference.

  11. Googolplex (Anti-Jonas) says:

Being against abortion has nothing to do with being a republican. It all has to do with the conservative philosophies. Although most republicans are conservative it has nothing to do with the political party itself. People these days get conservative and liberal philosophies with the politcal parties that just have different policies. Policies and Philosophies are no the same thing.
A democrat who is pro life is a conservative-democrat. Which is my philosophy and political ideals.

  12. ? says:

You know, a lot of people make their decision by mindlessly following the political party they were raised to follow, so kudos to you for actually looking at the issues and trying to make an educated choice!

I think the best way to make your choice is to examine the main issues that are being brought up this year and find out which ones are really important to you. If a candidate represents your views on all the issues but one, that one is going to have to be a really big deal to you to talk you out of voting for that person. It’s up to you to decide if it outweighs everything else.

Look at history Republican had presidency and both houses of congress and no amendment was offered. They want it as fund raising issue and campaign issue. Someone as familiar with slavery issue as Obama may surprise folks how pro life with limits he may lean. He surely will lower the amount of abortions more than Bush.

  14. ? says:

I am not a big advocate of abortion. I think it’s wrong-you get pregnant, your fault, not the baby’s. However, McCain has no intentions of stopping abortion, it has been legal the whole time Bush has been in office. I do believe in some cases abortion is needed, life of the mother being a big one, children getting pregnant, rape, incest…..I do not believe in abortion as a form of birth control. I think that Obama said it all when he said we need to focus on stopping unwanted pregnancy to begin with. There are much bigger problems to focus on, because I don’t think either candidate will stop abortion anyway. At least Obama speaks of prevention, which would slow the abortion rate…..Obama 08′

  15. ? says:

First, see if either candidate is even likely to act on the abortion issue. If neither seems like they will actually affect the issue, then you can drop it from your list of reasons to vote for or against either candidate. Then you can concentrate on other issues that are important to you. Just because you choose to align yourself as a Democrat, doesn’t mean every Democratic candidate aligns with your beliefs better than an opposing candidate. Always vote for the individual person, not the party. I personally don’t believe that the abortion laws will change under either candidate, so I’m not going use that issue when determining my vote.

  16. mvpwarner13 says:

Abortion isn’t even a real issue. Abortion will alway be legal. Who you vote for president will not change that. The only reason republicans bring it up is to divert attention from the real issues. Vote based on their positions on issues that affect your daily life. The economy, the war in Iraq, energy, health care etc. Look at it this way. Since Roe v. Wade made abortion legal in 1973 (35 years ago) a Republican has been in office for about 23 of those years…has abortion been made illegal? Wake up people. Its all a smoke screen. They play on your emotions (Gay marriage, abortion, etc.) so you don’t look at the real issues.
