What does abortion actually do to a fetus?

I’ve been having a big debate about the moral right/wrongness of abortion with my parents and they say all kinds of horrible things that happen to it. The problem is they are so inconsistent about what it actually does or how it’s done that I’m not sure I can trust anything they say on the topic. Please help.

ultimately, it kills the fetus. so. that’s pretty horrible.

  2. rich_and_allison says:

Kills it…every type of abortion kills the baby.

  3. batlestar08 says:

Kills an unconscious bunch of cells

    lo yes it does

  4. what-tha says:

HERE………… GOOGLE ABORTION LOOK UNDER IMAGES, AND SEE WHAT IT DOES,

  5. Richard C. Mongler says:

Google image search: “abortion shock images”

Not for the faint of heart

  6. Diane T says:

    KILLS IT!

  7. abbie says:

    kills it….

  8. Mr. Malevolence says:

Essentially, the fetus is surgically removed from the womb, where without the warm and nurturing environment of the womb and the nutrients provided through the umbilical chord, it simply dies on the surgical table. After that, they probably dispose of it in some way, maybe in a bio-waste container.

  9. LO says:

    it kills the fetus. (BABY)

  10. High Dreamer says:

it forces the fetus to detach itself, and gets carried out of the body, death the same as for you or I.

  11. ariarose1 says:

Abortion is murder. There a few different ways that they actually remove or kill the fetus, here are a few sites to help you understand.

I recall seeing a film of an actual abortion once. I’m sure you could find it online.

  13. HelpMeRhonda says:

It’s horrible. They suck the baby out limb by limb piece by piece. They also shoot a solution of salt water in the uterus and it burns the baby alive!!! A late term abortion they pull the baby out by the legs and then take scissors and crush the skull so they can pull the rest out. Is this enough description for you? get on utube and you can see it done. It will make you SICK!

  14. senoritaseward says:

A lot of things can happen and it varies depending how far along you are, if its in the early stages, they basically suck it out, but you need to be careful because there are alot of other things that can go wrong, and can be harmful to yourself, I included a website where you can get more info.

  15. Deliciously N says:

it depends on the type of abortion and how far along the mom was.

When I had a D&C after my baby died in utero they put me to sleep, dilated my cervix and scraped the lining out, taking the baby with it. A D&C is a pretty standard first term abortion, but it’s also the procedure done on miscarriages that don’t leave the body on their own.

  16. Kamryn's Mommie says:

There are many different ways that abortion can be done, the only thing that is concurrent with them all is that a life is denied the right to be lived.

A baby is killed, most of the time one with an already developed heart and heartbeat.

Abortion is a serious topic and if you are truely concerned about it you should Google it. You can find pictures and videos and alot more information on exactly what each form of it entails.
The only thing none of these websites can inform you of is the guilt you will and should feel afterwards, unless you are a souless whore that is. :)

  17. 39 weeks..almost there says:

It’s a really horrible horrible process. And it depends on the number of weeks the woman is pregnant.

here is a website that explains abortions in certain weeks of pregnancy.

I couldn’t even read it all because it’s disgusting.

  18. E to the Lisa says:

well the procedure itself is simple they dialate you a little (there are no pain killers most the time) the take a long stick looking thing to detach the fetus from your body then scrap it around in there then they use this vacum type thing to suck out all the contents of your uterus. basically it chops the fetus up into a bunch of pieces then it just gets sucked out. go to youtube.com and type in abortion its very sad!

  19. snoopysmami says:

it kills the baby…..your giving a pill that kills the fetus then some time later the remains are sucked out of you….i read it on this website below

  20. iVOTEDOBAMA says:

Well plain and simple it KILLS it, so it shouldn’t matter HOW it kills it, murder is murder. But, depending how far along the woman is, it does different things. No matter how far along a woman is, weather you wanna call it an Embryo, Fetus, Babie, it can feel main. They disfigure the fetus. Either by pulling body parts off, suctioning out it’s brain, squeezing it’s head, etc. Point, blank, period, it causes pain until it’s dead.

  21. LORI says:

There are different procedures depending on how far along in pregnancy the woman is.
For late term abortions they partially deliver the fetus then cut the head open with medical ‘scissors’ type instrument and suck out the brains. That is so that it dies before it comes out of the womans body (if that happened they have to let it live).

I think for earlier abortions they have a couple different methods. One is called ‘dilation and extraction’- basically they dilate the cervix to get to the fetus, then use instruments and vacuum to cut it out basically. The other most common one is called ‘dilation and curettage’ where they dilate the cervix and use a curette (sort of scrapy tool) to scrape the fetus etc out of the uterus. Those two I think since they are so early and fetus is so small the fetus gets all chopped up?

  22. mommy2be says:

well its very painful for the fetus. And yes the fetus does feel it. First they kill the baby and then suck it out with a suction type thing sometimes the baby is not completly dead. Then they throw them away. Have you eveer walked into an abortion house the worst smell in the world.

  23. Angel 84 says:

Depending on how far gone the mother is. The first procedure is the mother is given a tablet which brings on a miscarriage. It produces a set of hormones that makes the mothers body reject the baby and have a miscarriage. The second is a suction that breaks down the baby and sucks it from the uterus and the third (which is sick) in late pregnancy the baby is given a poison injection that kills the baby and i think the mother has to give birth to a still born.

  24. Jenn says:

In partial birth abortion, the abortionist delivers all of the babies body except the head and then jams scissors into the babies skull and sucks out it’s brains. In D & E, the baby is torn apart until all the body is removed. In saline injection, the baby is actually poisoned and the saline poison burns the off the outer layer of skin. The other methods don’t get any better than this. Check out these websites.

  25. Amber G says:

No matter what your parents say, the fact is that abortion terminates the pregnancy. No one (even pro-choicers) deny that. Second, It kills the CHILD. Life begins at conception. The actual procedure varies depending on how far along you are. None of them are MORAL. In the 1st trimester, a D&C is used…vacuuming out the baby…2nd trimester there are a variety of ways…in some cases they burn the baby, but most often now days they breaks its limbs off in pieces and pull it out… 3rd term…deliver baby until everything is out but head…cut a hole in his/her neck and suck brains out…yes, they wiggle through the whole process…sometimes they live…and they set them aside to die… Google silent cry. :( BABIES HAVE A HEABEAT AS EARLY AS 5 WEEKS AND CAN FEEL PAIN BY 8 WEEKS. Abortion is wrong. Oh and if you watch live abortion video Silent Cry the baby actually runs from the pliers…and looks like he is crying…so sad…he knows… RIDICULOUS. And these women call themself women and mothers. The B*T*H*S are going to hell…with the rapists and murderers…well, all except those who are GENUINELY sorry…

  26. Lady B says:

Depends how far along you are… Your baby develops a heart beat at 12weeks… so its alive… thats murder…

  27. Zyggy says:

You aren’t going to get any straight answers here, trust me, you are going to get the “it kills babies is what it does” more often then not.

  28. iTS A GiRl! [23 wks] <3 says:

its horrible. its killing a baby..that should be enough to know.. but if you wanna see…google abortion and go to images or sites. its not right at all and i am and always will be 100% against it.
ITS MURDERING A BABY. how is that supposed to be legal??

  29. nana says:

you murder your own flesh and blood. A fetus has part of your genes and by having an abortion, you without any sense causes genocide of your own derivative, blood, precious life.

  30. WickedAngelBrokenWings says:

a first trimester abortion involves suction. the fetus is either too small to be seen, or it is liquified. there is no “tearing apart” of the fetus unless the pregnancy is 12 weeks and beyond. even though fetal parts are present, it doesn’t mean that the fetus suffered. pain cannot be felt by a fetus until 24-26 weeks. late term abortions are rare, and during these procedures, either the fetus is too young to feel pain, the anesthesia given to the woman affects the fetus, or the fetus is euthanized. saline abortions are no longer done because of the ineffectiveness of it.

  31. ThomasRNV says:

Vacuum Aspiration (6 to 9 weeks): A powerful suction tube is inserted through the cervix and into the uterus. The fetus is torn apart by the force of the suction and sucked into a collection bottle, along with the placenta and amniotic sac. Since the doctor cannot actually see what he is doing, several possible complications can occur, including infection (if any portion of the fetus or placenta remains in the womb), uterine perforation (if the tube punctures the womb) and cervical laceration

Dilation and Curettage (8 to 16 weeks): A steel loop-shaped blade is inserted into the uterus through the cervix. It is used to scrape clean the walls of the uterus, removing the fetus and placenta. As with the aspiration method described above, the doctor is working blind, and may be followed by suction aspiration. It carries an increased risk of uterine perforation, infection, and serious blood loss.

    Mifepristone or RU-486 (5 to 7 weeks):
This drug blocks the action of progesterone, a naturally occurring hormone which sustains the nutritive uterine lining. As this lining withers, the embryo starves to death. Administration of mifepristone is followed 36-48 hours later by misoprostol, a synthetic prostaglandin, which causes uterine contractions that expel the unborn child. Some women will deliver while still at the clinic, while others will do so later, at home or at work. Bleeding can be quite heavy and lasts for an average of nine days. This method of abortion fails 5-10% of the time, and must then be followed by a surgical abortion.

D&E (13 to 20+ weeks): In this late term abortion the cervix is dilated, either mechanically or with laminaria. The physician uses forceps to dismember the fetus, which must then be reassembled to confirm that no parts have been left inside. Possible complications include infection, cervical laceration and uterine perforation.

D&X (20 to 32+ weeks): This late in the pregnancy it is very difficult to dismember the fetus in the womb. Therefore the physician begins, but does not complete, a breech (feet first) delivery, taking care to leave the head inside the uterus. The physician then punctures the base of the skull and suctions out the brains. The child dies, the head collapses, and the delivery is completed. This unsafe procedure has been denounced by the American Medical Association as “bad medicine”.

Hysterotomy (24 to 38 weeks): The procedure is simply an early Caesarean section. After an incision is made through the abdomen and uterus, the unborn child is lifted out and allowed to die. The risks are the same as for a normal Caesarean section.

Prostaglandin (16 to 38 weeks): This synthetic hormone is administered via injection or suppository. It causes powerful uterine contractions similar to labor. Live births are a common result. Possible risks include convulsions, vomiting, and cardiac arrest.

Digoxin Induction (20 to 32 weeks): To avoid the live birth complication described above, digoxin is first injected into the child’s heart, killing it. This is followed by a prostaglandin induction.

Saline (16 to 32+ weeks): A needle is inserted through the abdomen to remove amniotic fluid. A strong salt solution is then injected, which poisons the fetus and badly burns the lungs and skin. The child is usually delivered within 24 hours. This method is rarely used any more, since it can present serious, even fatal risks to the mother.

    ______________

Oh and dont listen to the bort head they just make crap up to suit their whims and wish, here are the facts about whether an unborn human can feel pain:

From the fifth week after conception onward, pain pathways are running from sensory receptors in the skin to those in the brain. These nerve endings are at least as dense in the skin of a newborn as in an adult. Such receptors appear around the mouth during the fifth week after conception and are present in the face, palms, and soles of the feet by the ninth week, spreading to the trunk, arms and legs by the thirteenth weeks and to all areas of the skin by the eighteenth week.

The development of the neocortex, the largest part of the brain, begins six weeks after conception and a full complement of nerve cells is present by the eighteenth week. At this time the pieces are in place to complete the pain circuitry. The evidence thus indicates that the child has developed sufficiently to sense pain late in gestation.”

That is taken from an article written by William J. Larsen a leading human embryologist, link below.

And as you can see, the reason the seem inconsistant is because there are a great many different ways to torture a preborn human to death, from dismemberment to burning them with acid essentially.

And if you want to know of some of the emotional side effect of abortion check out my las link, it’s a politically neutral post abortion healing message board.

I PERSONALLY don’t think abortions after 9 weeks is ok at all in a moral sense because I agree with those people that is murder & it does kill the baby. You should google abortion & read up on it. But also a lot of these answers there are horrible, none of those people have obviously ever been in that situation where they had to terminate a pregnancy. Also there are 2 different ways of doing an abortion (i.e. surgical & medication) they are done completely different also. The medication abortion is done with medicine that induces miscarriage with pregnancies under 9weeks, which also the fetus has not developed certain nerves, skeletal,or the brain by this time. And people have natural miscarriages all the time, its kind of like that but not an accident. The surgical I am against personally, but its where they take forceps pull down the cervix & uterus to snip things inside where the fetus is, vacuum out the rest, & then a D&C is done if they are over a certain amount of weeks. i have heard about them crushing skulls but didnt know that was true….that is absolutely horrible, I wouldnt look at those pictures on google they are heart wrenching horrifying pictures. I really am now more aware about this myself & think it is wrong. Those type of women really need to be more careful. Hope this helped…
