My girlfriend’s right arm is thinner (fragile) than her left. It is also twisted by the right hand. what caused this? Does anyone know? Could it be polio? She is 31 years of age. I would like to understand so I can better take good care of her. Thank you in advance.

ITs too late for any treatments except for possible weight strengthening on the affected side

as for a diagnosis- polio is doubtful since polio vaccines have been readily available since the early 60′s

what has her doctors told her throughout her childhood, adulthood about her symptoms ?

    Dont baby her too much

She may have mild cerebral palsy which has affected the development and control of her arm. I think if you consider her your girlfriend, you should be able to talk to her about it and ask how she wants you to react…she may be offended or hurt if you try to ‘take care of her’. She likely doesn’t want to be treated like an invalid, but the only way to know for sure is to talk about it.
